Our United Way funds programs run by other local non-profits as well as several of our own. All programs have been identified through local data as meeting a critical community need.
Program funded: Emergency services - provides financial assistance to people during emergency situations (housing, food, fuel assistance, etc.)
Program funded: Shelter support for victims of domestic violence and abuse.
Program funded: Truancy program - to reduce delinquency through restorative processes.
Program funded: Learning Together program - An alternative program for pregnant and parenting teens (up to age 22) to continue their education and receive their high school diploma or GED. Onsite childcare and transportation available.
Program funded: Homemaker program - Helping older residents with basic needs, such as meal preparation, laundry, vacuuming, grocery shopping, etc. so they can continue to live in their own homes.
Program funded: Support services - helps Lamoille County residents overcome their alcohol or chemical dependency.
Program funded: Meals program - delivers hot, nutritious meals to the elderly and those with disabilities.
Program funded: Volunteer services - Coordinates volunteers of all different ages to assist local non-profits, saving these agencies thousands of dollars each year.
United Way of Lamoille County projects:
Lamoille County Firewood Project - providing firewood to income eligible residents
Lamoille County Ramp Project - building ramps for those in our community with disabilities
Vermont 2-1-1 - United Ways of Vermont Information and Referral program
Community Food Drive - Collecting 2 tons of food annually (2nd Saturday in May) for our food shelves
Emergency Services for Vulnerable Populations - helping to keep those with special needs safer in a crisis
Prescription Discount program - providing discounts to those without health insurance
NEW: Transitional Housing program called 'New Foundations'.
