The 2011 Firewood Program is closed for the year.
This program is run in partnership with RSVP & the Volunteer Center, the State of Vermont and Central VT Community Action Council.
The State of Vermont donates log length wood to the project each year. The wood comes from trees cut on state land in Lamoille County.
RSVP & the Volunteer Center coordinates the volunteers who make this project possible. On average, 125 volunteers are needed each year.
Central VT Community Action Council accepts the firewood applications and determines eligibility.
Our United Way takes care of the logistics, coordinates the "work day" (this year is Monday, September 12) and supplies food and water for the volunteers, gas for the splitters and chain saws, and handles publicity surrounding the event.
Applications are accepted from August through September 2. The 2011 Firewood Project is now closed.
